Description

Macallan Edition Series No.1-6 70cl x 6

Macallan Edition No.1 is the debut expression in the Edition Series. It celebrates The Macallan’s unparalleled oak cask management policy that oversees the entire process from wood sourcing to finished, seasoned, cask. Showcasing the influence of The Macallan’s exceptional oak casks in the flavour of the whisky, the result is a bold single malt drawn from eight of the finest European and American oak cask styles and sizes. Nose:Orange, apple and dried fruit notes with a vibrant and rich aroma. Vanilla, toffee and chocolate underlay oak overtones. Palate: Warming wood spices open followed by nutmeg, cinnamon, hints of dried ginger and toffee. Fruit appears later - fresh and balanced with fresh oak. Finish: Soft and lingering.

Macallan Edition No.2 sees a collaboration between master whisky maker of Macallan (Bob Dalgarno) and the team at the El Celler De Can Roca restaurant in Girona,Spain (Twice voted best restaurant in the world). Nose: Treacle, ginger, toffee apples and rich fruits. Layers of vanilla open into tropical fruits and subtle green wood. Palete: Warm with spice as cracked black pepper and cloves join with hints of chocolate, brown sugar, oak and nuts. Finally, liquorice and brandy snaps come through. Finish: Full, slow, warm and wonderfully viscous. Macallan Edition No.3 brings to life the flavour experience of The Macallan through aroma, calling on Master Perfumer Roja Dove's remarkable sensory knowledge and expert sense of smell to create the third unique expression in the series. Borne of two art forms.

Edition No. 3 unites the worlds of whisky and aroma to reveal the complexities of single malt character and the power of the senses in creating and experiencing The Macallan. When we experience and enjoy whisky, the power of aroma is unquestionable - and it is this power that makes the approach to Edition No. 3 truly mesmerizing. Nose:Reminiscent of a fine fragrance, the nose leads with vanilla ice cream, fresh cut oak and delicate florals. Orange oil provides subtle grandeur while ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg flit in and out in various guises. Vanilla imparts sweetness, leading citrus fruits forward then allowing chocolate to show. Burnished oak delivers a soft ending. Palate: Sweet fruit, vanilla and rich fruit cake with suggestions of apricot, pear and crisp green apple. Hints of ginger and cinnamon are balanced with a light resinous oak finale. Finish: Long, sweet and fruity, leaving a lasting impression on the senses. Macallan Edition No.4, the fourth release in the Edition Series, a range of whiskies that focuses on The Macallan’s commitment to wood.

Edition No. 4 was aged in a combination of seven different cask types. These include; European/American Oak refill butts, European/American Oak refill hogsheads, American Oak first fill Vasyma hogsheads, European Oak first fill Diego Martin Rosado butts, European Oak first fill Jose Y Miguel Martin butts, European Oak first fill Tevasa butts/puncheons and European Oak first fill Tevasa hogsheads. Nose: Bold and rounded honey with a sweet apple note. Orange zest follows a background of ginger and nutmeg. Robust, polished matured oak comes at the end in contrast to the subtle green wood and floral undertones. Palate: Nutmeg with wood spices and green cloves open up immediately, with a calm following the intense beginnings, leaving a sweet and vanilla viscous mouth coating. Finish: Fruity with oaky sweetness, long and lasting.

Macallan Edition No.5, the 5th release is all about the natural colour of the whisky! Celebrating the natural colour of the whisky, imparted by its time maturing in oak casks, Macallan teamed up with Pantone to create a rather fetching shade of purple which features on the label and presentation box. Very snazzy stuff. Nose: Vanilla and toffee with notes of oak, nutmeg, ginger, lemon basil and pear. Palate: Fresh and sweet with caramel moving into poached peaches and ripe pear. Quickly followed by a toffee sweetness with light oak spices in the form of nutmeg and hints of ginger in the background. Finish: Long and sweet.

Macallan Edition No.6. The last in the edition series. Inspired by the River Spey, the sixth and final release in The Edition series of annual limited editions from The Macallan is crafted with a combination of American and European oak sherry butts and hogsheads to create a multifaceted experience with a deep and rewarding flavour. The nose opens with fresh fruits, nutmeg, ginger, chocolate, toffee and vanilla merged with oak. The palate rewards you with ripe plum, orange and cinnamon, developing into spicy fruits and creamy chocolate, followed by toasted oats in the finish.
