Description

Hermes 13 Year Old Glen Spey Bottle 147/197 70cl. The Olympians Series from Platinum Cask is a limited release set of 12 single cask bottlings.

Each bottling will represent one of the original Greek Gods, Hermes is our ninth bottling.

Hermes is considered the herald of the gods. He is also considered the protector of human heralds, travellers, thieves, merchants, and orators.

Hermes is a limited bottling of just 197 bottles. Distilled in 2008 it is a 13-year-old Single Malt from the Glen Spey Distillery bottled at 57.8% ABV.

With the Olympians Series, we will focus on showcasing some of the more unusual and characterful casks from our collection. For Vulcan, we chose the 12-year-old Caol ila for its Applewood smoked ham and spicy sweets.

All Olympian bottles will be accompanied with a signed print reproduction of the label artwork painted by Cornish artist Susan Haseman.

Susan's work normally focuses on the small villages and inhabitance that make up the Cornish landscape. However, for this special limited project, Susan has been commissioned to re-imagine the Greek gods in a set of 12 original works of watercoloured art.

The 12 Gods intended for the series will be:

ARTEMIS - The archetypal virgin god, representing new beginnings and symbolising a deep desire to create brand new ideas and methods of working. A perfect fit for our first bottling.

APHRODITE - The goddess of fertility, love, and beauty. Aphrodite was the mother of Eros also known as Cupid.

APOLLO - Son of Leto and Zeus and twin of Artemis, also an Olympian. God of truth, philosophy and light.

ARES - The God of War represented the unpleasant aspects of battle. Son of Zeus and Hera, both of whom hated him (according to Homer).

ARTEMIS - The daughter of Zeus and Leto and twin sister of Apollo. She was primarily a virgin huntress, goddess of wildlife and patroness of hunters.

ATHENA - Goddess of War, the female counterpart of Ares. She is one of three virgin goddesses; the other two were Hestia and Artemis.

DEMETER - Daughter of Cronos and Rhea was the goddess of harvest and fertility. Goddess of grain and the earth, It is said Demeter sent heros to deliver agriculture to the mortals.

HADES - The God of Wealth or the rich one was said to have possessed all the precious metals of the earth.

HEPHAESTUS - Known as the God of Fire was the only ugly god among perfectly beautiful immortals. He was the workman of the immortals, building their dwellings, furnishings, and weapons.

HERA - Queen of the Olympian gods, Hera was a gracious protector of the heroes.

HERMES - The trickster due to his cunning and clever personality. He primarily served as the herald or messenger of the gods.

ZEUS - Zeus was the father of the famous Greek hero Hercules. The name Zeus means bright or sky. His weapon of choice was the thunderbolt, made for him by the Cyclops
