Description
Port Ellen Samaroli Import 1982 12 Year Old Single Islay Malt 75cl. A 12 Year Old expression from an unnamed Islay Distillery but believed to be Port Ellen, released by Samaroli. It was bottled on Samaroli's behalf by R.W.Duthie & Co with the label showing No.12.
Information for this lot was gathered via Emmanuel Drons Collecting Scotch Whisky - An Illustrated Encyclopedia Volume 1.
"I only saw the bottle twice. Both bottles came from the same source and are now in two different collections. There is no indication of distillery but I guess it is a Port Ellen. I found in Silvano`s (Samaroli) archives a label of a Port Ellen 1970 12 Years Old bottlled in 1982.A really beautiful label. The typography on Single (on the listed bottle) and the label (pictured) is the same and the typography on "" 12 Years Old"" is the same on both labels too. Percentage of alcohol is identical. In my opinion , there is no doubt its the same whisky. I haven`t seen bottle with the label (pictured) yet. It is the only Port Ellen Cask Strength bottled by an independent bottler while the distillery was still active."
Please note wear to the bottle label and tax strip.
